"Today, the nation recognizes the sacrifice that all Gold Star Family members make when a father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, or other loved one dies in service to the nation. The strength of our nation is our Army. The strength of our Army is our Soldiers. The strength of our Soldiers is our families. The Army recognizes that no one has given more for the nation than the families of the fallen." --http://www.army.mil/goldstar
Every year 5th Special Forces Group brings back the families who lost loved ones in service to their country and rededicates the memorials in their honor. So every year we put together a concert in their name in which all of the proceeds go to the casualty assistant fund and scholarship fund that support those families. We are currently ramping up for our next Gold Star Memorial Concert featuring the Confederate Railroad, Mary Sarah (from The Voice), the Matt Poss Band and Odiss Kohn scheduled for May 19, 2017 at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center in Clarksville, TN.
Online ticket sales have ended!! You can still get your tickets at the door!! See you there!!!
“The efforts of so many of our Soldiers over the past 14 years of war have been both inspiring and humbling at the same time. And when some have made the ultimate sacrifice or been left to deal with horrible and life altering wounds, our ability to support these great Americans in any number of ways, to include through our Special Forces Casualty Fund, has been so very important. As I have interacted with fathers, mothers, spouses, and children of our Fallen, I am invariably met with Family members who are proud of their Service Member, but also so thankful of the way that we have come to their support during their time of loss. And the story doesn't end there, as many of these Family members remain connected to our community and continue to give back through their involvement with Care Teams or visits to hospitals, or speaking to and with current unit volunteers. I have also witnessed our ability to provide to our Service Members when dealing with significant challenges, whether being wounded in combat, injured in training, or suffering a life altering illness. The speed at which we bring support to the front door of these Families is truly unmatched. One of the greatest rewards of what the Special Forces Casualty Fund represents is that EVERY member of the Special Forces Group sees the lengths to which we support our Families in times of difficulty and what that creates is an even deeper commitment to continued service within the Group, as well as continued service to our great Nation. Rest assured that if you are able to support ANY effort to raise funds for the Casualty Fund, I am confident beyond any doubt that the monies raised will be put to good use.” ---- Brigadier General Scott Brower (Former Commander 5th Special Forces Group Fort Campbell, KY)
